Yup - realised the carb loading trick... the weeks Ive done best on long runs were with a big bowl of wholemeal pasta the night before...

The waterbottle idea is a great one!

Great stuff James.

I've learnt to get into the habit of carb-loading in the 2-3 days leading up to the long run. Having a girlfriend who likes pasta and brown rice helps.

I've also been known to drop water bottles around the route the night before. They're nearly always there in the morning, too. Anything to ward off the dreaded emptiness which tends to strike me about 13-14 miles. If I can get through to 16-17 I tend to be OK, a bit like you today.

19 miles is a very decent distance. Well done.
