It’s the last Saturday in October, so that means it’s Snowdonia Marathon day. It also means it’s guaranteed to rain. I kid you not. I didn’t manage to get to see any of the race as I was working this morning and then running errands this afternoon, but it’s been monsoon wet all day. Apparently, it was a record field this year with over 2000 starters. That’s pretty good for a race that’s billed and the UK’s toughest marathon.
When I headed out for my 40th run, the rain was starting to ease and it felt reasonably warm out of the rain. So off came the rain jacket as I tend to get rather warm when running. Ten minutes later and the heavens opened with another bout of rain that would not be out of place in a David Attenborough documentary in the jungles of South America. When it rains like this, there’s nothing to do except bow to the inevitable and prepare to get thoroughly soaked.
